This website has developed over the years from an original idea suggested by a New Zealander, Michel Van Mellaerts aka The Wasabi Maestro, when he and his wife, Jenny, started growing wasabi in 1990.
Between then and now, they built their original company, New Zealand Wasabi Limited, into the largest supplier of 100% Pure Wasabia japonica products in the Southern Hemisphere.
Michel and Jenny are recognised worldwide as the goto people for anyone who wants to commercially grow Wasabia japonica in an aquatic environment.
