About Wasabi

For the last twenty years or so we have been cooking with, and using Wasabia japonica (True Wasabi) in nearly all our food.

As you can see from the recipes and pages in this blog, there is really no limit to what wasabi can be used for in the culinary arts.

Nearly everyone has heard of wasabi being used with sushi and sashimi, but have you thought about baking with wasabi, or using it to cook all types of meat with?

In this blog you will find lots of different recipes that we have either invented ourselves in our own kitchen, or have tried other peoples recipes and found they work. You will be surprised how many recipes don’t. :(

One thing we need to get clear – not all wasabi is really wasabi!

The majority of so called wasabi is actually “faux” wasabi made from coloured horseradish with mustard, cornflour and other stuff added.

We only use and recommend 100% Pure Namida Wasabi Powder with no additives, colourings, flavourings or excipients. This product can be purchased over the Internet at www.wasabi.co.nz for approximately the same price as the “faux” wasabi.

To find out what you are using as wasabi, go to www.wasabireviews.com to find out the truth. You will be amazed.

Your recipes using wasabi are welcome, we will try them out in our kitchen and add them with an acknowledgement to you.

We hope you try out and enjoy at least some of these recipes.
