Wasabi Industry Future

Is the Wasabi Industry Future in Food?

Back in 2011 I wrote an article about the Past, Present and Future of the Wasabi (Wasabia japonica) Industry as I saw things at that time. If you are interested you can find the original article here.

Since then a lot of things have changed, some for the better and some for the worse.

Overall though, the benefits certainly outweigh the negatives, and the Wasabi Industry Future looks very bright with lots of exciting possibilities appearing.

In this lesson we will be looking at the future while recognising what has gone before and what is actually happening today. Quite honestly, I am quite amazed at the deconstruction and reconstruction that has been going on behind the scenes in the last 5 years.

It is my belief that at long last the Wasabi Industry is at the point where it is moving very fast from a tiny niche market into a large mainstream product that will appear in all manner of products for the next 20 years or more. Prior to this happening there have been major shake-ups in the industry that seemed to be nailing the coffin lid on for the industry, but looking back on it that was what the industry needed. We needed to get rid of the dreamers and the get rich quick people (although a few still remain), and show the world that we have successfully moved from a research and development industry still with training wheels, to a fully fledged stand on its own two feet industry.

The Wasabi Industry Future direction has been slowly moving from a niche commodity product where the growers have been “price takers” for many years, to a high quality and in demand mainstream product. The positioning of Wasabia japonica in a similar manner to the acceptance that saffron is expensive and in short supply with a high demand is finally paying dividends.

The fact that the Medical Establishment have become interested in the unique makeup of the Wasabia japonica plant and its uses in the Health and Medicinal fields opens the doors into otherwise forbidden markets.

The Wasabi Industry Future is very bright and expanding at a very fast rate. Now is the right time for potential growers to get into the industry.

The pioneers have worked hard to provide everyone with a well-defined path to follow, complete with travel guides and signposts. All you have to do is to buckle down and get involved with the hard work and dedication to make your Wasabi Farm business a success.

In this course there is enough information for you to decide if you want to become part of this expanding and developing Wasabi Growing Industry or not.

Welcome aboard for the crazy ride ahead!
