Seared Tuna Tataki

Serve fatty fish like tuna for its many health benefits. But instead of grilling or frying it, prepare it as tataki, which is a Japanese way of preparing fish by pounding or hitting it.

1/2 kilo fresh tuna fillet (sashimi grade)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

For the dressing
1/4 cup green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon wasabi paste
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon salt
fresh ground pepper

 

1  Marinate tuna in olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.

2  In a skillet over high heat, sear tuna fillet on both sides until golden, but still raw inside.

3  Remove from pan immediately and cut into 1/2-inch cubes.

4  Make the dressing: In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients together.Pour over seared tuna cubes. Serve immediately. Toss with the tuna. Serve immediately.
