Tuna Recipes removed from all World Wasabi websites.
Tuna overfishing has prompted World Wasabi to remove from all its websites any recipes that use Tuna as an ingredient.
All recipes using Tuna will be redirected to an information page explaining the reasons behind the decision of the World’s largest supplier of 100% Pure Wasabia japonica products to remove these recipes from their websites.
The company’s founder, Mr. Michel Van Mellaerts stated “Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that if people, companies and nations continue to pig out on Tuna sashimi, sushi and steaks then the Tuna will be going the way of the Dodo and the American Passenger Pigeon. My family and I do not believe that it is acceptable to exterminate a complete species because of greed, ego and nationalistic fervour. At the end of the day it is beyond stupid to remove a food item from the face of the earth and replace it with a piece of paper which has no nutritional value. This is exactly what Japan and those countries it has paid to support their actions are doing with Tuna.”
He went on to say “As a company it is our duty to our children and grandchildren that we act in a manner that will enable them to experience what we take for granted today. Completely removing the oceans top predator in exchange for 30 pieces of silver does not appear to move us in that direction. We hope that other websites and companies will see the removal of Tuna recipes as a step in the right direction to conserve the tuna we have left for future generations, and do the same on their websites. If we do not do something to stop this madness then our grandchildren will be eating jellyfish.”
The company acknowledges that some users will be a bit put out by this action, but believe that their customers will understand the reasons behind this unique reaction to tuna overfishing.
