Wasabi Grater causing ecological damage

Shark skin wasabi grater causing ecological damage

In Japan, the wasabi grater is being promoted as a must-buy item for people who want an unusual souvenir of their visit.

The grater is covered in shark skin which was the traditional wasabi grater many years ago. Now most people use either a ceramic or fine toothed metal wasabi grater. It achieves the same result and it does not deplete the oceans of sharks.

It is being promoted as a quality item that every home should have, never mind that we are killing sharks for no other reason than we want their skin. Sad world we live in.

They should be banned or at least boycotted to get them removed from store shelves.

There are 100 Million sharks killed a year – sometimes for you but mainly for their fins and their skin. The live shark is thrown back to die a miserable death for no good reason.
