Two more food manufacturers jump on Wasabi Flavour bandwagon
In the last week or so two new food manufacturers have released information about new products added to their offering that contain wasabi (or at least that is what they claim).
Wasabi Chips
Over in Hong Kong McDonalds have been selling wasabi chips (french fries) to their customers.

You do have to make your own though!
You get supplied a bag of chips, a packet of wasabi flavouring and a shaker bag. Mix in the flavour packet and give it a good shake and voila! Wasabi chips.
Currently only available in Hong Kong, the company states that it currently has no intention of making these wasabi chips available elsewhere.
The ingredients list on the wasabi packaging appears to be a bit unclear what it actually contains, but I suspect that it is salt, mustard powder, horseradish powder and a little green colouring.
Wasabi Oreo's
Yes, you heard that right.
Oreo's are now available in a wasabi flavour. The biscuit portion is still the standard chocolate, but the filling is a wasabi coloured and flavoured cream.

Wasabi Oreos only available in China
Currently these Wasabi Oreos are only available in China.
It is not clear if these are going to be available anywhere else in the near future.
The picture on the left is the actual product, and the colouring is quite different to the company released product photo.

The ingredients used to make the wasabi cream also is unclear, but once again it is unlikely that any real Wasabi has actually been used to make this wasabi oreo.
Customer Beware
The use of the word Wasabi for both these products does not imply that any wasabi is actually being used in the manufacture of these fast food snacks.
It is merely a cynical marketing ploy by these large food manufacturers to cash in on the public's current love of the wasabi flavour.
With the ingredients list being vague, it is suggested that those with mustard allergies avoid these products should they become available in your area.
