Wasabi Muffins
Makes 16
Ingredients
2 tsp Namida® Wasabi
paste made from Namida® 100% Wasabi powder
3 Tbs Celery - finely chopped
3 Tbs Red of green pepper
- finely chopped - seeds removed
1 Medium onion - finely
chopped
1 cup Tasty or Mozzarella
cheese - grated
2 1/2 cups Plain baking
flour
5 tsp Baking powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1 Egg - beaten
50 gm (2 ozs) Butter - melted
1/2 to 1 cup Milk
2 Tbs vegetable oil
Method
1) Braise in 2 Tbs oil,
wasabi paste, celery, pepper and onion until soft or brown.
2) Add to sifted dry ingredients.
3) Stir to combine.
4) Add in beaten egg, butter
and milk to moisten.
5) Spoon into greased muffin
tins.
6) Sprinkle a little cheese
on top.
7) Place into hot oven and
bake at 200ºC (395ºF) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes: These muffins can
be frozen. The Namida® wasabi brings out the flavour of the vegetables without
being overwhelming.
Spicy
Sausage or Meat Pie
Serves 6
Ingredients
2 Tbs soya oil
4 celery stalks
1 grated carrot
1 onion
2 tsp Namida® wasabi
paste made from Namida® 100% Wasabi powder
3 Tbs grated mozzarella
cheese
1 Kg sausages (or stewing
steak cut in 1" cubes)
250 gms (8 ozs) sour cream
(small tub)
short pastry topping for
pie
Method
1) In 2 Tbs soya oil, stir
fry celery, carrot, onion and wasabi paste.
2) Remove and set aside.
3) Brown sausages or meat
until golden brown.
4) If using sausages slice
in half lengthways.
5) Place meat / sausages
in a deep pie dish, add stir fried vegetables.
6) Cover with sour cream
and mozzarella cheese.
7) Cover pie with short
crust pastry and cook in moderate oven for 1 hour, or
until pie golden brown.
8) Serve with potatoes or
rice.

for Pastry Topping
2 cups plain flour
1/4 tsp salt
125 gms (4 ozs) butter
cold water
Method for
Pastry Topping
1) Sift flour and salt together.
2) Grate in cold butter.
3) Mix to a stiff dough
with a little cold water.
4) Roll out very lightly.
