Tuna on a stick

This a marinated tuna meal cooked on a bamboo skewer. It can be done on a BBQ or in  a pan. Lovely as an appetiser, with a bottle or two around the BBQ or even as main course. Just adjust the quantities accordingly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise*
  • 4 tsp Soy Sauce (use the one you prefer)
  • 1.5 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Namida® 100% Pure Wasabi powder*
  • 1 tsp cold water*
  • 375 gms (12 ozs) Tuna steaks, cut into 20 25mm (1 inch) cubes
  • 10 Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • Cooking oil
Method
  1. Mix the Namida® 100% Pure Wasabi Powder and cold water together make a thick paste. Cover and set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. In a bowl stir together mayonnaise, soy sauce, sugar, and lemon juice.
  3. Transfer 2/3 cup soy mayonnaise to a small bowl and stir in the wasabi paste. Cover and chill in refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour. Can be chilled for up to a day.
  4. Stir tuna cubes carefully into remaining 1/3 cup of soy mayonnaise. Cover and chill in refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour. Can be chilled for up to a day.
  5. Prepare the grill, BBQ or pan. Heat up to medium to high heat.
  6. Thread 2 Tuna cubes onto each skewer and cook on your preferred cooker for approx 2-3 minutes on each side. Be careful not to burn it.
  7. Serve immediately with the chilled wasabi mayonnaise.
